Maizbhandar Darbar celebrates Sufi saint Golamur Rahman remembrance ceremony

CHATTAGRAM, April 7, 2022 (BSS) - The spiritual hub of Maizbhandar Darbar
has wrapped up a three-day celebration of commemoration ceremony for great
Sufi saint Syed Golamur Rahman Maizbhandari, coinciding with the 87th
anniversary of his physical demise.

"Millions of people rallied around this great Sufi saint to seek his
blessings for peace in their individual and social life," incumbent leader of
the darbar Syed Saifuddin Ahmed told the crowd ahead of the concluding
prayers at the Darbar at Fatikchhari area near the southeastern port city of
Chattagram.

According to a statement of the Darbar today Ahmed added that this "urs" or
"remembrance ceremony" drew millions indicating that the holy spiritual hubs
serve as healing centres for all including those who are in sorrow and
distress.

Ahmed said the urs of Syed Golamur Rahman this year coincides with the holy
month of Ramadan which teaches mankind to attain purity while the Sufi saints
lead the people to the path of purity and eternal pleasure.

During the three-day celebrations Ahmed, also the president of the
Parliament of World Sufis, led a series of events including Milad Mahfils,
discussions on the life and works of Golamur Rahman, more known as Baba
Bhandari among his admirers and spiritual followers.

Ahmed said the lack of humanity in human mind and deviation from the Islam's
golden principle of liberalism and pluralism as preached by Syed Golamur
Rahman and his grand successor, another great Muslim saint of the recent
past, Syed Moinuddin Ahmed, were causing unrest in social and global arenas
and individual's life.

"The absolute allegiance to Allah and his Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) with
selfless love and devotion and empathy for the human beings cutting across
their nationality, religion, caste and creed as suggested by sufi saints over
the centuries only could draw an end to the unrest in one's mind and bring
back social harmony," he said ahead of the concluding prayers of the
ceremony.
