DHAKA, April 5, 2022 (BSS) - Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBn) arrested two Rohingya children from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and seized around 6,000 pieces of yaba tablets from them today.

The detainees were Saddam Hossain, 15, and Md Amin, 14.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of APBN Ziaul Haque Palash confirmed it to BSS, saying that APBn detained them from airport's restaurant area around 4.30 pm as they were roaming there without any purpose.

Under suspicion, law enforcers interrogated them and recovered around 6,000 pieces of yaba from their pockets, he added.

The market value of the seized yaba is around Taka 18.21 lakh.

APBn official further said that during the preliminary interrogation the children said that they brought those yaba tablets from Teknaf to Dhaka.

They have been given a phone number and they were supposed to deliver these yaba tablets by contacting that number, he continued.

A case will be filed against them under the Narcotic Control Act with the airport police station, he said.
