3-day science fair begins at BCRIR in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, March 30, 2022 (BSS) - With the main thrust of making science
and technology popular and projecting new innovations, Bangladesh Council for
Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) opened a three-day science fair-
2022 on its Rajshahi campus on Tuesday.

     The fair with the slogan 'in search of young scientists' was inaugurated
by Pro-vice-chancellor of Rajshahi University Prof Sultan-Ul-Islam as the
chief guest with BCSIR Director Dr Barun Kanti Shaha in the chair.

     Encouraging the young scientists alongside flourishing their innovative
talents and building a science minded nation was also the objective of the
fair.

     Life and Earth Science Faculty Dean of Rajshahi University Prof Shahidul
Islam and BCSIR Senior Scientific Officer Ahsanur Rabbi also spoke.

     Prof Sultan-Ul-Islam said a substantial and sustainable boosting the
number of science-minded students has become indispensable for flourishing
the sector of information and communication technology.

     He stressed sustainable technology invention and research on public
interest issues beside the basic research for the development of the country.

     There is no way but to wide-ranging promotion of the science and
technology sector to take forward the nation successfully.

     He referred to various aspects of expanding science education to the
doorsteps of both rural and urban students and said there is no alternative
to acquiring scientific knowledge to devise ways and means for advancing the
nation technologically.

     Professor Prof Sultan Islam urged the youth to take up research as the
country needs more researchers for development.

     At least 75 schools, research organisations and individuals participated
in the fair.
