
DHAKA, March 28, 2022 (BSS) - The Jatiya Sangsad today unanimously adopted a
condolence motion expressing profound grief over the death of a former
president and other three former lawmakers.
Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury moved the condolence motion at the outset of
the seventeenth session of the 11th parliament.
The deceased are former president Shahabuddin Ahamad, former lawmaker and
language veteran M Abul Hashem, ex-lawmaker Quazi Rossy and ex-lawmaker Dr
Syed Mokbul Hossain.
The parliament also expressed condolence over the death of an office
assistant cum computer operator of the parliament secretariat M Siddiqur
Rahman.
Besides, condolence was poured at the Jatiya Sangsad over the death of Rakiba
Nasrin, wife of chief whip of the opposition M Moshiur Rahman Ranga, M
Sharifuddin Mondol, father of whip Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Shawpan, AFM Fazle
Rabbi, elder brother of former chief whip ASM Feroz MP, valiant freedom
fighter and Padua union Awami League president M Golam Kabir Talukder, uncle
of Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, Abdus Saleh Salam,
father of Adiba Anjum Miita MP, legend singers of Indian sub-continent Lata
Mungeshkar, legend singer of the Indian West Bengal state Shandya Mukherjee,
noted singer and music composer Bappi Lahiri, noted journalist and executive
editor of a Bangla Daily 'Bangladesh Prothidin' Pir Habibur Rahman, Justice
FRM Nazmul Ahasan, National Baitul Mukarram Mosque Khatib Professor Mawlana
Muhammad Salahuddin, Bangladeshi Sailor M Hadisur Rahman who was killed in
rocket attack on a Bangladeshi ship 'Banglar Samridhi' on the bank of Black
sea in Ukraine, Sylhet's Gopalganj upazila Awami League President Iqbal
Chowdhury, Tangail Dhanbari upazila Awami League President Badiul Alam Monju
and Pirganj Press Club President Moksed Ali Sarker.
Referring to those who died due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the parliament also
expressed deep shock and sorrow for sad demise of different professionals
including doctors, health workers, member of police forces, political leaders
and activists, media workers, businessmen, elite personalities and government
and non-government employees in home and abroad.
The Jatiya Sangsad also expressed condolence on the fatalities who were
killed in tragic launch capsize in the river of Shitalakkya, plane crush in
south-eastern Guangji region of China and causalities held in different
places across the world.
Moreover, the House also expressed deep shock and prayed for eternal peace of
those who had been lost their lives due to accident at different places in
home and abroad.
Later, the obituary motion was unanimously adopted by the House, prayed for
eternal peace of those deceased and observed one-minute silence munajat as
mark of respect to the departed souls.
Treasury bench lawmaker Kazim Uddin Ahmed of Mymensingh-11 conducted the
munajat.
