RANGPUR, March 21, 2022 (BSS) - Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury here today said benefits of development of Pirganj upazila will be equally distributed from house to house across the upazila. 

"All affected families by the fire terrorism in Baro Karimpur Kasba Majhipara village of Ramnathpur Union in Pirganj have been brought under relief and rehabilitation activities alongside providing financial grants as per directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," she said.

 The Speaker was addressing a function arranged at Boterhat RDS Dakhil Madrasa ground in Pirganj upazila to distribute cheques among the 200 affected families of the village as the chief guest. 
 
She distributed cheques worth Taka 50 lakh to the 200 affected families of the village with Taka 25,000 to each family.

The Speaker expressed deep gratitude to Prabir Kumar Saha and Saroj Saha of Dream Holiday Park, Khaled Haider Khan Kajol of Narayanganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Amal Poddar of Metro Dyeing and Shamim Osman MP of Narayanganj-4 constituency for providing Taka 50 lakh as grants with Taka 10 lakh each for the 200 affected families. 

"Fifty-four houses burnt in the fire attacks were immediately repaired, all students were given new books and new national identity cards as those were burnt," she said.
 
Red Crescent, Bidyananda Foundation and RDRS Bangladesh distributed Taka 34,35,000, the District Police distributed Taka 10,50,000 and NGO Islamic Relief distributed 1,16,24,142 to the affected families as grants.
 
Besides, ANKUR Foundation distributed 25 cows to the affected families and many people extended their support.
 
Later, the Speaker inaugurated development work of the Kashimpur Majhipara-Cheragpur road under the Important Rural Infrastructure Development Project-3 of Local Government Engineering Department (LGED). 

 She inaugurated six development works implemented by the Department of Education Engineering, 17 uplift works implemented by LGED and launched implementation of eight development works by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief. 

The Speaker visited the houses constructed in Patgram village out of 120 houses being built in Bara Alampur Union of Pirganj upazila in the third phase of the Asrayan Project adopted by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the homeless people. 

She inaugurated the mural of Bangabandhu at Pirganj Government High School, visited different stalls set up in the Development Fair there and inaugurated the new building of Zila Parishad's Pirganj Dak-bungalow. 
 
Later, she exchanged views with the newly elected Union Parishad Chairmen, leaders of Pirganj Upazila and Pirganj Municipal units of Chhatra League and local people at the Pirganj Upazila Parishad auditorium. 
 
On the occasion, the Speaker said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working tirelessly to complete the unfinished works of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. 
 
"Bangabandhu snatched the red and green flag through a long struggle to bring smiles to the faces of the sad people. He never bowed down to injustice remaining compromising throughout his life with the aim of building a non-discriminatory Bangladesh,' she said. 
 
With Acting President of Pirganj Upazila Awami League Professor Nurul Amin Raja in the chair, Pirganj Upazila Awami League General Secretary and Pirganj Municipality Mayor Tazimul Islam Shamim moderated the function.
 
Deputy Commissioner of Rangpur Md. Asib Ahsan, District Superintendent of Police Md. Ferdous Ali Chowdhury, Pirganj Upazila Chairman Nur Mohammad Mandal, Vice President of District Awami League Chhayadat Hossain Bakul, Vice-presidents of Pirganj Upazila AL Shahidul Islam Pintu and Monayem Sarkar Manu, its Organizing Secretary Shafiur Rahman Mandal Milon and local elite were present.
