MODHUPUR (TANGAIL), Mar 20, 2022 (BSS) – Agriculture Minister Dr M Abdur Razzaque today said the prices of the essentials will come under the tolerable limit soon as the government is trying relentlessly to curb the sufferings of the people.

“We hope that the prices of essentials will come down soon as programmes of Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) and rice selling  at Taka 10, per kg, will be launched during the upcoming Ramadan,” he said.

The minister said this as the chief guest while inaugurating the family card distribution for TCB at Malauri government primary school at Madhupur here.

The commodity price has world-wide gone up unusually and the price also becomes dearer in the country as a result of global food production and supply got into trouble due to the pandemic coupled with food price fuelled by the  Ukraine-Russia war.

To cope with the situation, he said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken an initiative to distribute daily essentials at subsidized price among one crore poor and lower income people. “The prime minister has stood by the lower income people by selling essentials in cheaper price,” he added.

Before the Eid, the minister said the government will also distribute various commodities including green-pea, lentils, onion and dates in phases. Even the new harvest will arrive on the middle of April and after all, the commodity price hike will come under control, he added.

Criticizing the BNP and some other political parties, the minister said certain political parties including BNP are trying to create an unrest in the country by capitalizing the issue of essentials price.

Upazial chairman Sarwar Alam Khan Abu, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shamima Yasmin, Municipality Mayor M Siddique Hossain Khan and Upazila Awami League leaders, among others, were attended.
