DHAKA, March 15, 2022 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of film director Azizur Rahman.

In a message of condolence, he prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to bereaved family.

The film director breathed his last around 11:30pm (Bangladesh time) on Monday while undergoing treatment a hospital in Toronto, Canada.

Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary, said Azizur Rahman had emerged as film director by directing heritage-oriented movie 'Saiful Mulok Badiuzzaman" on Mymensingh folk ballads.

Azizur Rahman who directed many renowned films including 'Chhutir Ghonta' will remain alive for his outstanding works.

Ashikkhito, Matir Ghor, Janata Express, Sampanwala, Daktar Bari, Gormil, and Samadhan are among over 50 films he directed.
