Day-care center inaugurated at BCIC

   DHAKA, Feb 20, 2022 (BSS) - State Minister for Women and Children Affairs
Fazilatun Nesa Indira today inaugurated a day-care center of the Department
of Women's Affairs at BCIC building in the city's Motijheel area.

   "If child day-care center services are ensured, working mothers will be
able to perform their responsibilities properly, which would encourage
educated and skilled women to enter workplaces," she said at the inaugural
programme of the day-care centre, said a press release.

   "The day-care center has been set up for the benefit of working mothers in
Motijheel office area, now the working mothers would be able to carry out
their duties with confidence," she said.

   "Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's commitment of increasing women's
participation at workplace to 50 percent in 2041 by setting up more day-care
centres would come true," Indira said.

   "The Father of the Nation loved children very much, he guaranteed the
rights of the child in the constitution and made primary education compulsory
and took many steps for the development of children to make them creative,
thoughtful and good citizens," she said.

   To ensure the protection, education and nutrition of the children of these
working women, the Child Day Care Center Act, 2021 is being formulated and
implemented, she said.

   The ministry is currently operating 119 child daycare centers.

   The inaugural function was presided over by Director General, Department
of Women's Affairs Farida Parveen while Additional Secretary, Ministry of
Women and Children Affairs K M Shamim Akhter, Director Monowara Ishrat and
Project Director Shabnam Mostari were present.
