Poet Quazi Rosy passes away

DHAKA, Feb 20, 2022 (BSS)- Ekhusey Padak-winning noted poet and politician Quazi Rosy died while undergoing treatment at a city hospital in the early hours of today.

 She was 73.

 She breathed her last around 2:30am, her daughter Sumi Sikandar confirmed.

 Sumi reportedly confirmed that her mother was admitted to the hospital on January 30 and was shifted

to the Intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital’s isolation unit after detecting positive for Covid-19.

 According to her family’s decision, the body was taken to their residence at Segunbagicha and she will be buried at Mirpur Intellectuals Graveyard, she added.

 The former lawmaker was born in Satkhira on January 1, 1949. She earned her honours and masters degrees from Bangla Department of Dhaka University (DU).

She retired as an official of the Information Department in 2007.

Rosy was elected to the parliament from reserved seats for women through the 10th national election in January 2014.

 ‘Pothghat Manusher Naam’ and ‘Amar Piraner Kono Map Nei’ are the prominent poetry books among her literary works.

Besides, she also received Bangla Academy Literary Award in 2018 for her contribution to poetry and Ekushey Padak in 2021 for her contribution to language and literature.
