One more dies of Covid-19, 88 infected in Rajshahi division

RAJSHAHI, Feb 20, 2022 (BSS) - A total of 88 more people have tested
positive for Covid-19 in the division on Saturday, taking the caseload to
1,18,412 since the pandemic began in March, 2020.

     The new positive cases are showing a rising trend compared to the
previous day's figure of 36, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional
director of Health.

     While a single new fatality was reported during the past 24 hours, the
death toll reached 1,742, including 704 in Bogura, 340 in Rajshahi with 219
in its city and 178 in Natore, Dr Talukder added.

     Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 1,10,659 in the division after 602
patients were discharged from the hospitals on the same day.

     Besides, all the positive cases of the lethal virus have, so far, been
brought under necessary treatment while 25,828 were kept in isolation units
of different dedicated hospitals for institutional quarantine. Of them,
22,066 have been released.

     Meanwhile, 89 more people have been sent to home and institutional
quarantine afresh while 196 others were released from isolation during the
same time.

     Of the 88 new cases, 34 were detected in Pabna, followed by 14 in
Natore, 12 in Chapainawabganj, nine in Sirajganj, eight in 25 in Rajshahi,
including two in its city, five in Naogaon, four in Bogura and two in
Joypurhat districts.

     With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the
total cases now stands at 33,812 in Rajshahi, including 27,816 in city, 6,493
in Chapainawabganj, 7,687 in Naogaon, 9,769 in Natore, 5,631 in Joypurhat,
24,866 in Bogura, 13,587 in Sirajganj and 16,567 in Pabna.

     A total of 1,24,413 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine
since March 10, 2020 to prevent the community transmission of the deadly
virus.

     Of them, 1,21,312 have, by now, been released as they were given
clearance certificates after completing their quarantine period.
