Four die of Covid-19, 481 more infected in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Feb 10, 2022 (BSS) - A total of 481 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the division on Wednesday, taking the caseload to 1,16,659 since the pandemic began in March, 2020.

 
The new positive cases are showing a falling trend compared to the previous day's figure of 513, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of health.
 
The death toll reached 1,729, including 702 in Bogura, 335 in Rajshahi with 215 in its city and 176 in Natore as four new fatalities were reported during the past 24 hours, Dr Talukder added.
 
Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 1,04,267 in the division after 870 patients were discharged from the hospitals on the same day.
 
Besides, all the positive cases of the lethal virus have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 25,486 were kept in isolation units of different dedicated hospitals for institutional quarantine. Of them, 21,144 have been released.
 
Meanwhile, 280 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 464 others were released from isolation during the same time.
 
Of the 481 new cases, 162 were detected in Pabna, followed by 86 in Sirajganj, 73 in Natore, 71 in Rajshahi, including 58 in its city, 34 in Bogura, 18 in Joypurhat, 15 in Naogaon and 12 in Chapainawabganj districts.
 
With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 33,502 in Rajshahi, including 27,546 in city, 6,376 in Chapainawabganj, 7,606 in Naogaon, 9,563 in Natore, 5,523 in Joypurhat, 24,676 in Bogura, 13,307 in Sirajganj and 16,106 in Pabna.
 
A total of 1,23,351 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10, 2020 to prevent community transmission of the deadly virus.
 
Of them, 1,18,336 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their quarantine period.
