DHAKA, Sept 10, 2026 (BSS) – The traffic division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today filed 2,206 cases against vehicles for violating traffic rules during the last 24 hours in the capital.

The cases were filed as part of the DMP's regular enforcement campaign carried out on Thursday and Friday aimed at ensuring traffic discipline, reducing congestion and improving road safety across the city, according to a media and public relations division issued here today.

The DMP said such drives against traffic law violators will continue, urging motorists and pedestrians alike to comply with traffic regulations to help maintain order on the roads.

It said that the DMP traffic police dumped 436 motor vehicles and towed 306 vehicles during the campaign.

During the drives, the Traffic-Ramna Division filed 119 cases, including 11 against buses, eight covered vans, four CNG-run auto-rickshaw and 36 motorcycles, according to a media spokesperson of the DMP.

The spokesperson said 161 cases were filed by the Traffic-Lalbagh Division including against nine buses, 17 trucks, eight CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 90 motorcycles, while Traffic-Motijheel Division filed 265 cases, against 11 buses, one truck, 14 covered vans, 59 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 131 motorcycles.

Meanwhile, the Traffic-Wari Division filed 304 cases, including against 25 buses, 31 trucks, 25 covered vans, 39 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 104 motorcycles. 

The Traffic-Tejgaon Division filed 143 cases, including against 11 buses, three trucks, 11 covered vans, 20 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 56 motorcycles.

The Traffic-Mirpur Division filed 471 cases, including against 34 buses, 19 trucks, 38 covered vans, 45 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 224 motorcycles, Uttara division registered 432 cases including against 38 buses, 15 trucks, 12 covered vans, 39 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 178 motorcycles.

The Traffic-Gulshan Division filed 311 cases, including against 35 buses, three trucks, 14 covered vans, 21 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 86 motorcycles.

The drives were conducted as part of the DMP's ongoing efforts to enforce traffic laws and ensure discipline on the city roads, the DMP release said.
