DHAKA, Sept 9, 2026 (BSS) - The 48th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal was observed across the country today with various programmes.

Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman founded the organization on September 9, 1978, with the aim of empowering women and ensuring their participation in all spheres of national life.

Marking the anniversary, the party paid tribute to the graves of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia at Zia Udyan in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar this morning.

BNP Acting Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi attended the programme as the chief guest. Hundreds of leaders and activists from the central and different units of the organization were present.

After paying tribute, Rizvi said BNP is working to ensure women's empowerment, saying civilization can't achieve its full potential without empowering women.

He said Ziaur Rahman had formed Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal to ensure women's participation in politics, society and the state.

Rizvi branded the organization as one of the largest and strongest women's organizations in Bangladesh, saying it had protested against various forms of oppression, including violence against women and children.

Meanwhile, Mohila Dal units at the divisional, district, metropolitan, thana, municipality, union and ward levels observed the anniversary through rallies, discussions and various social and organizational programmes.

A colourful rally will also be held on September 12 in front of the BNP central office at Naya Paltan in the capital.
