Sakhawat makes surprise visit to Charbhadrasan Upazila Health Complex

FARIDPUR, Aug 30, 2026 (BSS) - Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Husain today made a surprise visit to the 50-bed Charbhadrasan Upazila Health Complex in Faridpur.

The Health Minister arrived at the health complex without informing any officials or employees beforehand.

During the inspection, the minister enquired about patient care, the presence of doctors and health workers, and the overall environment of the hospital.

He also instructed the authorities to ensure adequate supplies of anti-snakebite vaccines and rabies vaccines at the vaccination centre.

Speaking to journalists after the inspection, Sakhawat Husain outlined various government plans for the health sector and said Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman had introduced 31-bed hospitals to ensure healthcare for people in rural areas. Later, Begum Khaleda Zia upgraded those facilities to 50-bed hospitals.

He said, in line with the election manifesto of the current government, the Charbhadrasan hospital would be upgraded to a 151-bed facility with modern equipment, pathology services, and separate beds for women and children.

Later, the minister visited the Sadarupur Upazila Health Complex in the same district. During the visit, he went around various wards and enquired about healthcare services and overall activities.

During the visit, the minister ordered the immediate transfer of Family Planning Assistant Rina Akter to Sadarupur Upazila Health Complex as she was absent from the office of the Upazila Family Planning Officer without permission.
