Light to moderate rainfall likely 

DHAKA, Aug 21, 2026 (BSS) - Light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds, are likely to occur at different places across the country in the next 24 hours from 9am today, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said.

"Light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions," said the BMD forecast.

Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall is also likely at places across the country, it said.

Day and night temperatures may fall slightly over the country.

The country's highest temperature on Thursday was recorded at 36.0 degrees Celsius in Rajarhat, while the lowest temperature today was recorded at 24.4 degrees Celsius in Sylhet.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours till 6am today was recorded at 66mm in Srimangal.

The sun will set in the capital at 6:27pm today and rise at 5:36am tomorrow.
