RANGPUR, Aug 13, 2026 (BSS) - The official inauguration of the 'Micro-credential course' under the 'Digital Skills to Succeed (DS2S)' project was held at the cafeteria of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) today.

Vice-chancellor of the university Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali was present as the chief guest at the event.

In his speech, the Vice-chancellor said that according to the World Economic Forum's estimates, the young generation must be proficient in modern digital skills to keep pace with the needs of the global market and industry.

He said, "Students must acquire practical skills instead of relying only on academic degrees or results."

He further mentioned that the aim is to bring about 2,000 BRUR students under this international standard micro-credential training to make them suitable for the global market, which will be of great help in increasing their confidence and higher education or employment.

DS2S in Asia Project, BRUR Chapter Focal and Professor of Computer Science and Engineering Department Dr Md Mizanur Rahman presided over the programme.

Proctor of the University Professor Dr Md Ferdous Rahman, spoke as a special guest at the event.

Professor of Marketing Department Dr Md Shahjalal, Education and Youth Advisor of German-based development organization GIZ Rumana Akhter, Assistant Professor of Sociology Department Yasmin Sultana and Lecturer of English Department Farhana Mahzabeen, among others, spoke at the event. 

Teachers and students of various departments of the university participated in the event.

Through this micro-credential course, students of the non-technical (non-tech) departments of the university will also receive quality training on AI, data and modern digital technology.
