DHAKA, Aug 13, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque has called for extensive tree plantation to tackle the country’s growing natural disasters and to maintain ecological balance and greenery.

He made the call while speaking as the chief guest at a tree plantation programme held at the Shaheed Zia Mohila College premises in Pallabi in the capital today.

The state minister urged students, teachers and guardians of the college to plant more trees from their respective positions.

A collective initiative of people from all walks of life is needed to build a healthy, green and livable environment, he said.

The programme was chaired by Md Saidul Hossain Sahed, chairman of the governing body of Shaheed Zia Mohila College.

College Principal Md Alamgir Hossain, members of the governing body, Mirpur Bangla School and College Principal Md Mostafa Kamal Khoshnobish and Dr Muhammad Shahidullah School and College Principal Md Khalekuzzaman Jewel were present.

Besides, local political leaders, teachers and employees of Shaheed Zia Mohila College, students and guardians participated in the programme.
