DHAKA, Aug 13, 2026 (BSS) -Dhaka University (DU) authorities have formed a three-member committee to investigate allegations of covert anti-state activities involving several teachers of the university and recommend necessary action, according to a DU press release today.

Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof Dr Abdus Salam will head the committee, while the other two members are the Dean of the Faculty of Science and the Dean of the Faculty of Law.

The committee will look into the overall matters regarding the teachers concerned, determine the necessary course of action, and submit recommendations. 

The committee has already begun its work, according to the press release.

The move came after reports published by various media outlets caught the attention of the DU authorities.

The media report stated that 404 teachers from 22 universities across the country-including 92 from Dhaka University-were allegedly involved in secret activities aimed at bringing back fugitive death-row convict Sheikh Hasina to the country and reactivating a banned political party.

The release added that among the 92 DU teachers mentioned, 58 have already been identified.

If additional names are identified during the process, the committee will also look into their involvement and make appropriate recommendations, it added.
