ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY, Kushtia, Aug 10, 2026 (BSS) - A seminar titled "Shaping Our Future: Preparing Ourselves to Thrive in the Era of Artificial Intelligence" was held at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia today enhance students' preparedness regarding the growing impact, opportunities and challenges of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The event was jointly organised by the IEEE Islamic University Student Branch and ICT IU Alumni Association with support from different student chapters of IEEE at IU.
 
IEEE IU Student Branch Counselor Professor Dr Md Zahidul Islam chaired the programme, which was moderated by branch's general secretary Sakeef Mahmud Foysal.

IU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr AKM Motinur Rahman attended the seminar as the chief guest. Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Amtaj Hossain, Treasurer Professor Dr Idrish Ali and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Professor Dr Atiqur Rahman were present as special guests. 

Professor Dr Rahmatullah Khandaker from THM University of Applied Sciences Friedberg, Germany, was the keynote speaker at the seminar.

Teachers, researchers, students and representatives of different organisations of the university participated in the event.

Chairperson of the student branch, SM Sajjad Hossain Soykot delivered the welcome speech. Later, Chairman of the ICT Department Professor Dr Tarek Hasan Al Mahmud discussed 6G communication and related technologies. 

He also shared insights from his research field and assured interested students of guidance and collaboration for future research activities.

Later, Professor Dr Rahmatullah Khandaker conducted a session on AI, where he discussed the basic applications of AI and various technological innovations with the students.

He emphasised that students must develop knowledge and skills related to AI to remain competitive in a rapidly changing technology-driven world. He also highlighted the importance of using AI as a tool for innovation and development.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr AKM Motinur Rahman said students should take initiatives to establish technology-based ventures, build startups and create employment opportunities for themselves.

He assured that the university administration would provide all possible support in this regard.
