DHAKA, August 10, 2026 (BSS) – Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today sent greetings and gifts to Sadman Shihab, son of disappeared BNP leader Khaled Hasan Sohel, after the teenager achieved an outstanding result in this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination.

The Prime Minister congratulated Shihab on his success and expressed sympathy for his family, sending flowers, sweets and inspirational books along with a message of encouragement and wishes for his continued success.

Shihab is the son of Khaled Hasan Sohel, a former general secretary of Sutrapur thana Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal. Sohel was allegedly picked up by plainclothes men identifying themselves as law enforcement personnel from Old Dhaka on November 28, 2013, and his whereabouts have remained unknown for more than a decade.

The SSC and equivalent examination results were published across the country today, and Shihab’s achievement came to the Prime Minister’s attention.

Following the Prime Minister’s special instruction, his Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman took necessary steps to deliver the gifts to Shihab.

Accordingly, a delegation led by ‘Amra BNP Paribar’ Member Secretary Agriculturist Moksedul Momin Mithun went to Shihab’s residence in the Banglabazar area of Old Dhaka.
On behalf of the Prime Minister, the delegation handed over a bouquet of flowers, sweets and inspirational storybooks to Shihab and conveyed the Prime Minister’s special message wishing him continued success in his future studies and a bright future.

Members of ‘Amra BNP Paribar’ Masud Rana Liton and Mustakim Billah, Chhatra Dal leader Abdullah Al Misbah, Northern Students Forum Vice-President Farzana Rimi and local leaders were also present during the handover.

Despite growing up with the memory of his missing father and amid prolonged uncertainty, Shihab’s SSC success brought an emotional moment for his family and relatives.
