DHAKA, Jan 2, 2022 (BSS) - Country's noted Tabla artist Pandit Madan

Gopal Das passed away at his residence in city's Narinda area this morning.

     He was 85.

     Das breathed his last at around 6.55 am, family sources said.

     He is survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter and a host of relatives
and admirers.

     Madan Gopal Das would be cremated at the city's Postogola cremation
ground this evening.

     Das was born on 7th September, 1939 in Dhaka. Bijoy Chandra Das and
Basna Rani Das are his parents. He served as the artist of special
convenience at the BTV and guest instructor of Chayanot, Nazrul Academy,
Shilpakala Academy and University of Dhaka.

     He received several awards from home and abroad including the President
Award and Silpakala Padak.

     He was one of the founders of Chhayanaut. He received lifetime honor
from Chhayanaut.
