DHAKA, Feb 11, 2026 (BSS) - BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan today said any attempt to create anarchy during the upcoming elections will be resisted by the people.
"Those who try to create disorder in the elections will not be accepted by the people," he told journalists after a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin at the Nirbachon Bhaban in Agargaon.
Earlier, a three-member BNP delegation, led by Nazrul Islam Khan, met with the CEC. The other members of the delegation were BNP Chairperson's Advisory Council member Ismail Zabiullah and Election Steering Committee member Gias Uddin Rimon.
Nazrul, who is also the chairman of the BNP election steering committee, said BNP activists would remain active in the field to ensure a proper electoral environment. "If anyone tries to create anarchy in the election, the people will resist them. Even if BNP attempts to do so, the people will resist us as well," he said.
Responding to a question about the role of the Election Commission (EC), Khan said the party had expected a stronger stance from the commission. "We submitted allegations along with specific video evidence. However, the EC informed us that the complaints have been forwarded to a judicial committee," he said.
He added that such a response was not sufficient and urged the EC to take prompt and effective action.
Regarding alleged conspiracies to foil the election, the BNP leader said those opposed to change and certain of their defeat might attempt to disrupt the process. "But the people's desire for a fair election is stronger than any conspiracy," he said.
Expressing optimism, Nazrul Islam Khan said the BNP believes the election will be fair and voiced confidence in the party's victory.
