Registration of postal voters crosses one million

DHAKA, Dec 30, 2025 (BSS) – The registration of postal voters from home and abroad has crossed one million today ahead of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) election and referendum.

A total of 1,041,451 voters have registered to vote via postal ballot as of today, according to the latest statistics on the Election Commission’s (EC) website.

The EC stated that besides overseas Bangladeshis, government officials on election duty and government employees staying outside their constituencies are registering through the EC app ‘Postal Vote BD’.
Of the registered voters, 914,166 are male and 127,283 are female.

The top countries for expatriate voters are Saudi Arabia (187,177), Qatar (66,248), Malaysia (56,663), Oman (47,484) and the United Arab Emirates (31,399). A total of 419,021 voters have registered from within the country.

The top districts by registration are Cumilla (83,777), Dhaka (77,219) and Chittagong (71,525).

The constituencies with the highest registration are Feni-3 (13,651), Chittagong-15 (11,048) and Noakhali-1 (10,976).

The EC has recently extended the registration deadline. Expatriate voters, government employees, voters on election duty and voters under legal custody can register through the app until December 31.

Since its launch on November 18, the app has allowed expatriates to register from 148 countries worldwide, although using the respective country’s mobile number is mandatory for registration.
