DHAKA, Dec 28, 2025 (BSS)-  The Election Commission (EC) has approved the inclusion of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman in the voter list.

Director (Public Relations) and Information Officer of the EC Secretariat Ruhul Amin Mallick confirmed it to BSS today.

He said, "The Election Commission has approved the inclusion of Tarique Rahman in the voter list."

Earlier, on Saturday, Tarique Rahman completed all necessary procedures for voter registration and the issuance of a National Identity Card (NID) at the Election Commission.

The BNP Supreme leader arrived at the Election Training Institute (ETI) of the Election Commission in Agargaon at 1:00 PM on that day to complete the voter registration process.

He left the ETI building at around 1:18 PM after finishing all the procedures regarding inclusion  of his name in the voter list, EC Secretariat Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed has said. 

"BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his daughter Zaima Rahman have completed the process by filling out and submitting the voter registration forms."

He said that according to Section 15 of the Voter List Act, 2009, the Commission has the authority to register any adult or eligible person to be a voter. Based on that consideration, they registered as voters for Dhaka Ward No. 19 (17th parliamentary constituency).

, "This will be presented to the Commission on Sunday. They will be included in the voter list after the Commission's decision." he said on Saturday.
