DHAKA, Dec 18, 2025 (BSS) – The Election Commission (EC) has formally requested the senior secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs to ensure overall security and safety of the offices of returning officers and assistant returning officers across the country during the upcoming election and referendum scheduled for February 12.
The EC issued a letter in this regard today, signed by Deputy Secretary (Polls Operation-2) of the EC Secretariat Mohammad Monir Hossen.
“The schedule of the 13th National Parliamentary Election was announced on December 11. A gazette notification has also been issued for the appointment of returning officers and assistant returning officers to conduct the polls smoothly,” the letter said.
It said ensuring the security of poll officials and employees, along with the safety of important documents and electoral equipment kept at the offices of returning officers and assistant returning officers across the country, is essential.
Considering the law and order situation during the polls, the EC requested the concerned authority of the Ministry of Home Affairs to issue necessary instructions for deploying an adequate number of police personnel to ensure security at the offices of returning officers and assistant returning officers.
