The seminar, titled “Entrepreneurship as a Profession”, took place at the Syed Nazrul Islam Conference Hall and was organised by the Animal Health Companies Association of Bangladesh (AHCAB).
BAU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr A K Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan, attended the programme as the chief guest.
Special guests included Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science and Syndicate Member Dr. Md Bahanur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry Professor Dr. Md Ruhul Amin, Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries Dr. Md Rafiqul Islam Sarder, BAU Registrar Dr. Md Helal Uddin, and Mymensingh District Livestock Officer Dr. Mohammad Wahedul Alam.
AHCAB President Sayem Ul Haque presented the keynote paper, while AHCAB Secretary General Md Anwar Hossain attended as a distinguished guest. The seminar was chaired by Convener of AHCAB’s IT and Media Sub-Committee and Organising Secretary of the 6th AHCAB International Expo 2026, Dr. Mohammad Rashedul Zakir. AHCAB Treasurer Dr. Md Mozammel Haque Khan conducted the programme.
In his keynote presentation, Sayem Ul Haque said entrepreneurship is not merely about running a business but about creating something new, identifying potential opportunities, and gradually developing initiatives by taking calculated risks. He noted that while many people can run businesses, the key trait of an entrepreneur is the ability to transform problems into opportunities.
He also observed that the country’s education system still largely encourages a job-seeking mindset despite limited employment opportunities, stressing the need to foster problem-solving and entrepreneurial thinking among young people through a mindset shift across all relevant sectors, including education.
In his address, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A K Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan said the university is creating opportunities for students to learn in real-world contexts by engaging directly with industry stakeholders, helping to build effective linkages between academia and industry.
He added that the time has come to advance the health and production sectors in an integrated manner to develop competitive initiatives capable of sustaining themselves in international markets. Emphasizing affordable, effective, and quality services for farmers, he said such efforts would increase farmers’ incomes, boost production, and benefit society as a whole.
He expressed hope that initiatives like this seminar would help create a new generation of innovative and sustainable entrepreneurs for the future.
