DHAKA, Dec 7, 2025 (BSS) - Election Commissioner Brigadier General Abul Fazal
Md. Sanaullah (Retd.) today said the Election Commission (EC) will issue a
circular this week regarding the deployment of law-enforcement agencies for
the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election and the referendum.

"Based on that, the Ministry of Home Affairs will prepare a detailed plan.
All types of forces will be engaged in the election. The type of force
required for each polling center will be deployed accordingly," he said while
briefing journalists after the 10th commission meeting at Nirbachan Bhaban in
the capital's Agargaon.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin chaired the meeting while
four election commissioners and senior officials of the EC Secretariat also
attended it.

He said a central monitoring cell will be established at the Election
Commission, comprising representatives from all agencies and institutions
involved.

"This cell will have the capacity to handle misinformation and
disinformation. Each agency already has its own capability to deal with such
issues, and those mechanisms will remain active," he said.

Regarding a public holiday on polling day, he said, "A decision has been
made. Polling day will be a general holiday, as usual."

On the use of helicopters in remote polling areas, he said, "Helicopters will
be used to transport electoral materials, ballot papers, and polling
officials in remote areas. Banks and post offices will remain open as long as
necessary."

Speaking on NID (National ID) corrections, he said, "Recently, we have
noticed an unusual rise in applications for age correction, and not all of
them are made with honest intentions. Only corrections that are necessary due
to genuine errors will be handled at the field-level. Applications that are
not eligible will be rejected immediately."

In response to a question about the appointment of returning Officers, he
said, "Usually the deputy commissioners discharge duties of returning
officers. We also have some alternative proposals under discussion. You will
know it in due time."

On the EC decision to deliver ballot papers to polling centers the night
before the election, he said, "We will maintain proper supervision and ensure
close monitoring so that no irregularities occur."
