DHAKA, Nov 24, 2025 (BSS) - France today signaled its willingness to work
with Bangladesh on civil defence preparedness in the wake of the recent Dhaka
earthquake.
The interest was conveyed when French Ambassador Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet paid
a courtesy call on Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury
at the Secretariat, said the French embassy here.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on disaster preparedness,
post-earthquake response mechanisms, and future cooperation in strengthening
civil defence capabilities.
Preparations for the upcoming national elections also came under discussion.
The Adviser briefed the Ambassador on measures taken to ensure election
security and stability.
Addressing emerging challenges, Ambassador Séré-Charlet highlighted the
growing threat of disinformation, saying France and Europe had faced similar
information attacks, particularly from Russia.
The envoy praised the recent training of Bangladeshi officers in forensic
science and investigation conducted with French support, describing it as a
successful initiative that opens avenues for deeper cooperation in security
and capacity-building sectors.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral collaboration
in areas of mutual interest.
