DHAKA, Dec 2, 2025 (BSS) — French Ambassador to Bangladesh Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet has said the European Union sees strong potential for Bangladesh to attract significantly higher volumes of European investment and capital.

He stressed the need to maintain ongoing reforms to improve the business climate.

Speaking at a high-level dialogue on Business Climate, jointly organised by the European Union (EU) and the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) on December 1 in Dhaka, the Ambassador reaffirmed Europe’s readiness to scale up economic engagement with Bangladesh.

“We want to do more, and we strongly believe that Bangladesh can attract much more European investment and capital,” he said, according to a statement issued by the French Embassy today.

The dialogue brought together EU ambassadors, senior government officials and leading European businesses for discussions on trade, investment and regulatory improvements.

Ambassador Séré-Charlet highlighted the value of long-term partnerships between Europe and Bangladesh, noting the “untapped potential” for trade and foreign direct investment.

He also welcomed BIDA’s recent reform measures aimed at improving the investment ecosystem. “The key now is to sustain this reform momentum, strengthen regulatory clarity and ensure policy continuity and stability,” he added.
