DHAKA, Dec 16, 2022 (BSS) – LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Md Tazul Islam today said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had faced imprisonment, repression and torture throughout his life but never compromised with any injustice in realizing the rights of the Bangalees.
He was addressing as the chief guest a discussion and colorful cultural function arranged by Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) on the premises of Nagar Bhaban here marking the great Victory Day-2022.
DSCC Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh presided over the discussion while DSCC acting chief executive officer and secretary Akramuzzaman presented the keynote paper.
Local Government Division Secretary Muhammad Ibrahim, DSCC mayoral panel number Md Shahid Ullah Minu and DSCC councilors also attended the function.
Tazul said Bangabandhu made sacrifices to free the nation from the long subjugation of Pakistani occupational force.
He said the Awami League government led by Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is making all-out strides to establish the people’s rights.
After assuming office, the premier made the country self-reliant in food, he said.
The minister said Bangladesh has made remarkable progress in all sectors under her leadership.
He hoped Bangladesh will become a developed and prosperous Sonar Bangla by 2041 as dreamt by Bangabandhu.
Addressing the discussion, Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh underscored the need for upholding the values and spirit of the Liberation War to make the victory successful.
He urged the guardians to give lesson about true history of the Liberation War to their children from the family level.
After the discussion, a colorful cultural function was held.
