Victory Day observed at JU

SAVAR, Dec 16, 2022 (BSS) - The authorities of Jahangirnagar University (JU) today observed the 52nd Victory Day with due respect to the martyrs of the Great War of Liberation in a befitting manner on the campus.

JU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Nurul Alam paid homage to the martyrs of the Liberation War by placing floral wreaths at the National Mausoleum around 7.30 am.

Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Manzurul Huq, Registrar Rahima Kaniz, Deans of different Faculties, Provosts of different dormitories, teachers, students and officials accompanied him in placing wreaths among others.

Later, Jahangirnagar University Teachers' Association (JUTA), Bangabandhu Shikkok Parishad, Jahangirnagar University Journalists' Association (JUJA), JU Officers Association, the leaders of different student organisation and different socio-cultural organisations also placed wreaths.

Marking the victory day, the university authorities organised different programmes on the campus.

At sunrise, the national flag and the university flag were hoisted at the administrative buildings of the university.

Liberation war based books, journals, posters and photographs were displayed in the central library to mark the day.

Final matches of Chancellor's Cup football and Vice-Chancellor's cup handball competitions were held at 9.30 am at the central playground of the university.

Besides, the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) of the university organised a victory fair to mark the day.

Entire campus has been illuminated with colorful lights and balanced diet was served at the dormitories marking the day.
