CHANDPUR, Jan 26, 2026 (BSS)- Election Commissioner Brig. Gen. Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah (retd.) today said no one will be allowed to create disorder at polling centers.

“There will be no scope for exerting influence at the centers, creating unnecessary crowds, or violating the code of conduct. The code of conduct, as prescribed, must be strictly followed. We want to assure political parties, candidates, and the people that voting is safe in our hands,” he said.

He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a views-exchange meeting with the district law and order committee at the conference room of the Chandpur Deputy Commissioner’s Office.

Sanaullah said the Election Commission (EC)’s primary objective is to deliver a free, fair, and acceptable election.

An environment will be ensured so that voters can go to polling centers and cast their votes safely and without obstruction, he said.

“No fear or intimidation will be allowed to affect voters. A festive atmosphere will be created at polling centers so that those who attempt to intimidate others are deterred. Ensuring people to exercise their voting rights without hindrance is our priority,” he said.

He also directed that maximum assistance be provided to voters with disabilities.

He said around 10 executive magistrates and judicial magistrates will be deployed in each constituency.

“These teams will work in three phases. Two teams are already working in the field, while another team will remain on duty for four days during the election period. Those responsible for election duties must possess three essential qualities—transparency, neutrality, and firmness,” said Sanaullah.

He said there would be no biased directives from the Election Commission.

Sanaullah said officials are working with several new ideas in this election, which is very positive. He mentioned campaigns are also underway regarding the “Yes vote,” but voters must be clearly informed about it and the efforts should continue.

He stressed the importance of ensuring that postal votes are not wasted in any way, saying, a postal vote must be cast by the voter himself/herself, not by any other person.

He said Bangladesh’s position in the international arena, along with trade, investment, and employment, is closely linked to a fair election.

“We have witnessed how a country can suffer due to deficit in democracy. We do not want to see such undesirable incidents again. Through the upcoming election, we want to see a new Bangladesh,” he added.

He also informed that, alongside law enforcement agencies, members of the Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) will assist the Election Commission, and relevant authorities will be notified shortly.

Chandpur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Nazmul Islam Sarker chaired the meeting while District Election Officer Ziaur Rahman Khalifa also spoke at the meeting, moderated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Ershad Uddin.

At the meeting, election-related information of Chandpur district’s five parliamentary constituencies was presented.

It was reported that Chandpur ranks fifth nationwide in terms of the number of expatriate voters with 46,436 registered postal voters in the district.
