DHAKA, Dec 9, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today urged all to stay united so that the sacrifices of the martyrs of the July uprising are not undermined because of differences of opinion.

"The victory of the mass uprising must be preserved. Differences of opinion may arise, but the selflessness of those who laid down their lives should not go in vain," he said.

Fakhrul made the remarks as the chief guest at a book launch ceremony for works authored by Professor Dr. Mahbub Ullah and his wife Salma Alo at the National Press Club.

"In his writings, Mahbub Ullah consistently focused on the people, farmers, and laborers, advocating social change and the creation of a just and equitable state. Personal gains never guided his work," he observed.

Fakhrul added that BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia often sought Mahbub Ullah's advice during major political deliberations. "Many core ideas for political, constitutional, and economic reforms under Vision 2030 stem from his insights," he said.

Highlighting Mahbub Ullah's active role in national politics, Fakhrul said he contributed significantly to the 2022 simultaneous movement, the formation of political fronts, and electoral participation.

Concluding his speech, Fakhrul said Mahbub Ullah dedicated his life to transforming Bangladesh into a truly democratic and non-discriminatory nation, with his books championing the rights of ordinary people, freedom, and social justice.
