RAJSHAHI, Feb 1, 2026 (BSS)- As the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election is approaching, the election field has become highly charged due to intense campaigning by candidates in Rajshahi’s six constituencies as well as neighbouring seats.

Determined to secure victory, candidates have fully geared up and plunged into the electoral race.

In Rajshahi-1, BNP candidate Major General (Retd.) Sharif Uddin carried out extensive door-to-door campaigning on Saturday in different areas of the Gogram Union of Godagari Upazila.

During the campaign, he called on everyone to work  unitedly  to ensure the victory of the Sheaf of Paddy symbol in the upcoming election.

On the other hand, AB Party candidate Dr. Muhammad Abdur Rahman Mohseni also conducted widespread public outreach and leaflet distribution.

On Saturday, he exchanged views with local residents in various neighbourhoods, markets, and shops in the rural areas of Kamalapur in Gogran Union.

Spontaneous participation from local people was observed during his campaign.
On the same day, Dr. Mohseni attended a day-night cricket tournament held at Kamalapur Government Primary School field as the chief guest and formally inaugurated the tournament.

Calling for the restoration of democracy and the establishment of people’s fundamental and voting rights, Professor Abul Kalam Azad, the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami-nominated candidate of the Scale symbol, said that only by voting for the Scales and voting “Yes” in the referendum can people regain their lost democratic rights.

He made these remarks on Saturday morning while campaigning in different areas of Parila Union under Rajshahi-3 constituency.
He said, “I will cast my vote for whoever I choose—this is real democracy.” However, he alleged that during the previous authoritarian regime, people were deprived of this basic right.

Meanwhile, during election campaigning in the Kesharhat municipality on Saturday morning, BNP-nominated Sheaf of Paddy candidate Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon said that polluted wastewater from Rajshahi City Corporation is being discharged into the Barnoi River through drains, causing environmental pollution.

Treating this wastewater would be his first priority.

He emphasized that restoring the Barnoi River is essential for environmental protection.

At the same time, illegally occupied canals would be recovered and excavated to ensure water supply so that farmers can use the water for agricultural purposes.

In Rajshahi-5 (Durgapur–Puthia) constituency, the public outreach of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Maulana Manzur Rahman has received an enthusiastic response from voters of all ages.
On Saturday, he campaigned in Shalgharia village of Ward No. 2 under Durgapur Municipality.

In Rajshahi-6 (Charghat–Bagha) constituency, BNP-nominated   candidate Abu Sayeed Chand said, “Your maximum security will be ensured. I will also repair your temples and the remaining roads, Insha’Allah.”

He made these remarks during a brief roadside rally while campaigning  on Saturday in Sadipur area of Sardah Union under Charghat Upazila.

He added that if BNP comes to power, family cards will be issued to every household without exception.

Imams of mosques and priests of temples will be given salaries. He also said that canals would be excavated in all waterlogged areas across the country to facilitate agricultural production.
He urged everyone to vote for the Sheaf of Paddy.

In Chapainawabganj-2 constituency, Sheaf of Paddy candidate Alhaj Aminul Islam conducted day-long campaigning on Saturday in Rahanpur Municipality of Gomastapur Upazila.

He distributed leaflets and sought votes in areas including Rahanpur Jhorupara, Hirupura, Prasadpur, Kathal Mor, Bhatapara, Sobhan Nagar Colony, Rahmatpara, Khoyarmore, Old Bazaar, College Mor, and Station Bazaar.
Later, he held a roadside meeting at Sobhan Nagar Colony Hafezia Madrasa.

The election race in Naogaon-1 constituency has also become highly competitive with five candidates in the fray. The constituency comprises Niamatpur, Sapahar, and Porsha upazila.
In this election, four party-nominated candidates and one independent candidate are contesting.

Supporters of the candidates have already entered the electoral battlefield, and enthusiasm among general voters is also visible.

Candidates have displayed banners and festoons across the constituency, are distributing leaflets bearing their respective symbols, and are continuing microphone-based campaigning.
