RANGPUR, Jan 22, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Rangpur Metropolitan unit organized a welcome procession this afternoon ahead of the arrival of Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman in the city to attend an election rally on Friday.
The procession originated from the city’s Public Library Ground and circled the main city streets via City Bazar, Paira Chattar, Jahaz Company Intersection, Press Club and Grand Hotel Intersection before concluding at a rally at Shapla Chattar Intersection.
Speakers at the rally urged everyone to participate in the election rally at the city’s Public Library Ground on Friday evening. They also urged voters to support the ‘scale’ symbol in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election scheduled for February 12.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Central Majlis-e-Shura member and Rangpur Metropolitan Ameer Vice-Principal Moulana ATM Azam Khan chaired the post -procession rally.
The party’s Central Working Committee member and Rangpur-Dinajpur Regional Team member and nominated MP candidate for Rangpur-3 constituency Professor Mahbubur Rahman Belal addressed the rally as the chief guest.
Jamaat-e-Islami Rangpur Metropolitan Secretary General Anwarul Haque Kajal, Rangpur Metropolitan Assistant Secretary and Jamaat-nominated MP candidate from Rangpur-1 constituency Raihan Siraji also spoke.
Jamaat-e-Islami Rangpur Metropolitan Assistant Secretary Al Amin Hasan, Rangpur Metropolitan President of the Workers' Welfare Federation Advocate Kawsar Ali, Kotwali Thana Ameer Moulana Golam Kibria, Porshuram Thana Ameer Advocate Mahbub Alam, Mahiganj Thana Ameer Mohammad Mohsin Oli, Hazirhat Thana Ameer Belal Hossain, Tajhat Thana Ameer Advocate Rabiul Islam, Sadar Upazila Ameer Moulana Mozaharul Islam, Metropolitan Talimul Quran Department President and Working Committee Member Moulana Shahjahan Siraj, among others, were present.
Meanwhile, Rangpur Metropolitan Jamaat-e-Islami held a view-sharing meeting with local journalists at its office tonight. The Jamaat leaders in the meeting informed the journalists about the election rally to be held at the Public Library Ground on Friday.
Rangpur Metropolitan Ameer Vice-Principal Moulana ATM Azam Khan chaired the programme.
