Workshop on election reporting held in Khulna

KHULNA, Jan 18, 2026 (BSS)- A training workshop for journalists on “Election time journalism” was held here today to strengthen their capacity on election reporting.

Khulna Deputy Commissioner A S M Jamshed Khondker was the chief guest of the workshop organized by Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) at local Circuit House. 

Convener of Khulna Press Club Enamul Haque, member secretary Rafiul Islam Tutul, assistant secretary general of BFUJ Ehteshamul Haque Shawon, president of Metropolitan Journalists Union Rashidul Islam, general secretary Abdur Razzak Rana spoke among others on the occasion while PIB’s Sanowar Said Shahin moderated it and Sultan Mahmud Badal was present as resource person.

Speakers urged all concerned to maintain neutrality during the election period, combat misinformation, and ensure mutual cooperation between the administration and the media.

About 50 journalists from Khulna district and 45 journalists from nine upazilas took part in the workshop.

Speaking at the workshop the DC said there are clear directives from the highest level to curb illegal activities. 

He said the election situation in Khulna’s five parliamentary constituencies is ideal so far. All candidates, including heavyweight contenders are highly cooperative; he said adding that the number of complaints in Khulna is comparatively lower than in other districts.
