DHAKA, July 24, 2026 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today sent social media content
creator Abdullah Al Mamun, alias Prince Mamun, to jail in a case filed under
the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act over allegations of
demanding Tk 1 crore in dowry and physically assaulting his second wife.
Police produced Mamun before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court in
Dhaka and sought an order to keep him in custody.
The investigation officer of the case, Sub-Inspector Md Yawur Rahman of
Bhatara Police Station, pleaded for his detention, while the defence sought
bail.
After hearing both sides, Metropolitan Magistrate Md Monirul Islam rejected
the bail petition and ordered that Mamun be sent to jail.
Earlier in the day, Mamun's wife, Atikia Faizah Mohona, a fashion model by
profession, filed the case with Bhatara Police Station at around 8:30am,
accusing Mamun of demanding Taka one crore in dowry and subjecting her to
physical assault.
Police arrested Mamun shortly after the case was filed.
According to the case statement, Mohona married Mamun about five months ago.
Since their marriage, the couple had been experiencing frequent disputes over
various issues.
The complaint alleged that Mamun was involved in extramarital relationships
with multiple women and was addicted to drugs. Whenever Mohona questioned him
about those matters, he allegedly assaulted her.
The plaintiff also alleged that Mamun had been demanding Taka one crore in
dowry from her since their marriage, claiming he needed the money for
business purposes. When she refused to pay, he allegedly subjected her to
physical and mental abuse.
