SANGSAD BHABAN, Sept 10, 2026 (BSS) - Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman today said Bangladesh’s 86 missions in 63 countries regularly operate mobile consular camps to bring consular services to the doorsteps of expatriate Bangladeshis.

“The camps provide various consular services, including passport services,” he said while replying to a starred tabled question placed by ruling party lawmaker from Reserved Women’s Seat-7 Bilkis Islam in Parliament .

The minister said the respective diplomatic missions publicise the venue, date and time of the camps in advance through their websites and social media platforms, enabling expatriate Bangladeshis living far from the missions to access the services easily.

He said online application and payment facilities for e-passports allow expatriate Bangladeshis to complete the initial procedures from their own locations.

“Those who cannot visit diplomatic missions in person due to legal complications, mobility restrictions or other practical difficulties can contact the relevant missions through emergency hotlines or email,” he said.

“Necessary steps can be taken to inform them about nearby consular camps and arrange consular and legal assistance, where applicable,” the foreign minister said.

He said the government aims to ensure easy, quick and accessible consular services for expatriate Bangladeshis regardless of where they live or what circumstances they face.

“Considering the need, the government is actively considering further expansion of mobile consular camps,” he added.

Meanwhile, replying to another starred tabled question by ruling party lawmaker Md Mostafizur Rahman Babul of Jamalpur-3, the foreign minister said Bangladesh currently operates 86 diplomatic missions in 63 countries.

Of these, 62 are embassies and high commissions, while 24 are consulates, deputy high commissions, assistant high commissions and permanent missions.
