SANGSAD BHABAN, Sept 10, 2026 (BSS) - Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed today said maintaining the overall law and order situation in the country and ensuring the safety of people’s lives and property are the top priorities of the present government.

He said Bangladesh Police have intensified their efforts to curb murder, mugging, abduction and all other forms of crime. “Efforts are underway to restore the morale of the police, which became fragile after the July Mass Uprising, and make the force fully capable of working with its full strength,” he said.

The Home Minister said this while replying to a starred tabled question placed by opposition (Jamaat-e-Islami) lawmaker from Chapainawabganj-3 Md Nurul Islam in the Jatiya Sangsad.

Salahuddin said the country’s law and order situation has improved visibly since the present government assumed office.

He said the government has adopted short-term, medium-term and long-term strategic plans to further improve the law and order situation. He expressed hope that, with overall public cooperation and implementation of the plans, further visible improvement in law and order would be achieved within the shortest possible time.

The home minister also said Bangladesh Police are working relentlessly to this end through various operational activities.
