BAGERHAT, Sept 9, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court today seized and destroyed 35 China Duari fishing nets in Mollahat upazila to protect indigenous fish species and aquatic biodiversity.

The operation was conducted at the Aruadihi area of Kodalia Beel under the leadership of Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sumona Airin.

The seized nets, valued at around Tk 1.75 lakh, were later destroyed in the presence of local people. Two net strands were also cut to ensure the normal movement of fish.

Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Rajib Roy, police personnel, village police and Fisheries Office staff were present during the operation.

Rajib Roy said such drives would continue to protect indigenous fish species and fisheries resources.
