NETRAKONA, Sept 3, 2026 (BSS) - At least six cloth shops were completely gutted in a devastating fire at Paingaon Bazar in Rangchhati union under Kalmakanda upazila of the district early this morning.

Fire Service and local sources said the fire broke out around 4.55 am at a tin-shed cloth shop and engulfed the adjacent shops in the market. As the shops contained highly flammable cloth materials, the fire spread rapidly.

On information, two units of the Kalmakanda Fire Station rushed to the spot brought the fire under control at 6.00 am, said Kalmakanda Fire Station Sub-Officer Md Ashraful Islam.

The fire may have originated from an electrical short circuit, he said.
The primary damage has been estimated around Taka 20 lakh, according to local sources.
