KHULNA, Sept 2, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna Development Authority (KDA) Chairman Advocate SM Shafiqul Alam Mona today urged all to coordinate in combating the dengue outbreak.
He said fighting the Aedes-borne disease is a collective responsibility, requesting all quarters regardless of political entities, social and voluntary organizations for the cause.
The KDA chairman came up with the request for coordinated efforts while inaugurating a dengue prevention and mosquito-control campaign here.
He, however, noted that the dengue situation in Khulna as 'extremely alarming' and government and private hospitals are 'overcrowded' with patients.
Shafiqul, therefore, stressed extensive public awareness to destroy breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes.
He urged city dwellers to keep their houses and surroundings clean and remove stagnant water and other potential breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes.
Mosquito-control and cleanliness drives should not remain confined to specific areas, he said, requesting to destroy every possible hotspot in and outside offices, court premises and hospital compounds across the city.
"Protecting public health is a collective responsibility. Everyone concerned should be encouraged to continue social and welfare activities from their respective positions," he said.
