RANGPUR, Aug 31, 2026 (BSS) - Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) arrested 24 people and seized a large quantity of drugs and narcotics during special anti-drug operations conducted across the metropolis in the last 24 hours.

The operations were conducted by different units of RpMP on the instructions of its Commissioner Md Mahbubur Rashid as part of efforts to curb crime and prevent the sale and consumption of drugs, according to a press release issued today.

In separate raids, Kotwali Metropolitan Police Station arrested 12 people, including alleged drug dealers and addicts, and recovered 21 Yaba tablets, 50 grams of ganja and four grams of heroin from their possession.

Haragachh Metropolitan Police Station arrested six people, including alleged drug dealers and addicts, and seized 15 Tapentadol tablets and 20 Yaba tablets in separate operations.

Hajirhat Metropolitan Police Station arrested three people and recovered 236 grams of ganja and Tk 2,100 in cash allegedly linked to drug sales during separate drives.

Meanwhile, Tajhat Metropolitan Police Station arrested three people, including alleged drug addicts and hooligans, in separate operations.

"Rangpur Metropolitan Police is always active and committed to preventing crime, creating a drug-free society and ensuring public safety," the release said.
