MANIKGANJ, Aug 28, 2026 (BSS) - A motorcyclist was killed and his pillion passenger injured in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a passenger bus on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Manikganj this afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Jubayer Hossain, 28, of Bachamara village in Daulatpur upazila. The injured, Israfil, 17, is from Nagarpur upazila of Tangail.

Sub-Inspector Abdur Rouf of Barangail Highway Police said the accident occurred around 3:50pm near Pukhuria in Ghior upazila when a Dhaka-bound motorcycle collided head-on with a passenger bus of Selfy Paribahan.

Jubayer died at the scene, while Israfil sustained serious injuries and was taken to Uthuli Health Complex for treatment.

Police said legal proceedings were underway in connection with the accident.
