KHULNA, Aug 24, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna City Unit of Jatiyatabadi Jubodal today launched a month-long mosquito control campaign in the city's Ward No. 24 to help prevent the spread of dengue.

Khulna City Jubodal Convener Abdul Aziz Sumon inaugurated the campaign at 5pm on Monday by carrying out a fogging operation with a mosquito-control machine.

Ward No. 20 Jubo Dal under Sonadanga Thana Jubo Dal organised the programme. Ward Jubo Dal Convener Md Atiar Rahman presided over the programme, while Member Secretary Sheikh Firoz moderated it.

Addressing the programme, Sumon said the dengue outbreak could have severe consequences if effective preventive measures were not taken immediately.

"There should be no further delay in taking effective measures to contain the spread of dengue. The administration, public representatives, political and social organisations and people from all walks of life must come forward in a united manner," he said. 

Khulna City Jubodal Member Secretary Rubel Islam Rubel, speaking as a special guest, called for collective efforts to prevent the spread of dengue in the city.

Sonadanga Thana BNP General Secretary Asaduzzaman Asad and City Jubodal Joint Conveners Kamal Hossain, Rakibul Islam Rakib and Amin Ahmed Mithu, among others, attended the programme.

The speakers said the mosquito-control campaign would continue as part of efforts to raise public awareness about dengue and ensure a safer environment for city residents.
