RAJSHAHI, August 23, 2026 (BSS) - A month-long training programme on livestock and poultry rearing has started in Godagari, Rajshahi, to create alternative employment and make people in the border area self-reliant.
The training was inaugurated this morning at the hall room of Matikata Union Parishad in the upazila.
The training has been organized on the initiative of the Border Technical and Employment Training Center under the management of Rajshahi 1 BGB Battalion.
Lieutenant Colonel Riaz Shahriar, Commander of Rajshahi 1 BGB Battalion chaired the inaugural ceremony while Godagari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Israt Jahan and local dignitaries and concerned officials were present.
20 people, including 11 women, from the border area are participating in the month-long training.
The programme include both theoretical and practical training on modern methods of livestock and poultry rearing, selection of improved breeds, feeding and care, disease prevention, breeding, farm management, and marketing of produced goods.
Lieutenant Colonel Riaz Shahriar said through this training, participants will create opportunities for self-employment and grow as entrepreneurs. He expressed hope that other youths of Godagari will also be inspired by them.
He said BGB is conducting various types of technical and employment-oriented training programmes for the people of the border areas. In the future, if there is interest from trainees and government cooperation, there is also a plan to establish a permanent training center, he added.
After completing the training, participants will be able to set up farms on their own initiative for income generation.
