HABIGANJ, Aug 20, 2026 (BSS) - The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today recovered six pistols, seven magazines and 22 rounds of ammunition from a remote and densely forested area of Satchhari Reserve Forest at Chunarughat upazila of the district.

The weapons and ammunition were recovered during an operation conducted at about 4:30am, in an area under the jurisdiction of Satchhari Border Outpost (BOP) of Habiganj Battalion of the BGB.

According to the BGB, a special team, acting on a tip-off, conducted the operation led by Habiganj Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md Tanzilur Rahman.

The team searched a remote, hilly and densely forested area of Satchhari Forest, approximately three kilometres inside the Bangladesh territory.

At one stage, the team found six pistols, seven magazines and 22 round of bullet of various types concealed underground in a specially hidden location.

BGB officials initially suspect that the criminals had hid the arms and bullets in the remote area with an intention of using it in robbery, terrorist activities and other criminal acts.

The recovered weapons and ammunition are being handed over to the police following due legal procedures. Intelligence activities and operations are also continuing to identify and arrest those involved with the weapons.

Habiganj Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md Tanzilur Rahman said the BGB remains firmly committed to ensuring the country's sovereignty and border security, preventing the spread of illegal arms and ammunition and maintaining peace and order in the bordering areas.

He said BGB's operations and activities to prevent all forms of illegal activities would be further intensified in the future.
