TANGAIL, Aug 20, 2026 (BSS) – A 20-year-old woman was killed in a road accident in Sakhipur upazila of the district today.

The deceased was identified as Imu Akhter, daughter of village doctor Elim Uddin of Ratanpur Westpara village in the Sakhipur upazila.

The accident occurred around 12:30 pm in the Sholapratima area on the Sakhipur-Gorai road.

According to police and local residents, Imu Akhter was travelling to Sakhipur by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw with her six-month-old daughter. At Sholapratima, she reportedly leaned her head outside the vehicle to spit.

At that moment, a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction hit her, leaving her dead on the spot. Her infant daughter remained unharmed.

Officer-in-Charge of Sakhipur Police Station Mohammad Murad Hossain said police recovered the body from the scene after receiving the information.

Efforts are underway to identify the vehicle involved in the accident, and necessary legal action is being taken, he added.
