RAJSHAHI, Aug 20, 2026 (BSS) - A BSTI mobile court conducted in Rajshahi Metropolitan City today fined two establishments a total of Tk 1 lakh for selling cosmetics without approval from the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI).
The mobile court was conducted at the initiative of the BSTI Rajshahi Divisional Office.
During the drive, two establishments located at Theme Omar Plaza adjacent to New Market in the city — Queen's Park and KC Bazar — were each fined Tk 50,000, totaling Tk 1 lakh, for selling and distributing products such as shampoo, soap, lipstick, skin lotion, skin cream and skin powder without BSTI clearance.
The mobile court was led by Executive Magistrate Rahatul Karim Mizan, while Engineer Junaid Ahmed, an officer of the Certification Marks Wing of the BSTI Rajshahi Divisional Office, served as the prosecutor.
Members of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police were present during the drive.
Such drives by BSTI Rajshahi will continue regularly in the public interest to prevent adulteration and counterfeiting and ensure the supply of quality products.
