RAJSHAHI, Aug 15, 2026 (BSS)- Special prayers and doa mahfil were held and
food was distributed among the destitute in Rajshahi metropolis to mark the
82nd birth anniversary of Mother of Democracy and former Prime Minister Late
Begum Khaleda Zia.
This noon, in the Sapura area of Ward No. 15 of the city, Mahfuzur Rahman
Riton, administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) and General Secretary
of Rajshahi City BNP, distributed food among the poor as the chief guest at a
programme organised by 'Amra BNP Paribar'.
Before the food distribution, a special dua and munajat were held seeking
forgiveness for the soul of Deshnetri Late Begum Khaleda Zia.
Speaking as the chief guest at the programme, RCC Administrator Mahfuzur
Rahman Riton said, "Mother of Democracy, former Prime Minister, the
uncompromising Deshnetri Late Begum Khaleda Zia struggled throughout her life
to establish democracy in the country and ensure the voting rights of the
people."
He said, "Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is working to implement the
unfinished dream of Late Begum Khaleda Zia. He is working tirelessly to build
a new Bangladesh and for the welfare of the people of the country."
The organisers present at the programme were former Vice-President of
Rajshahi city BNP Shahin Iqbal and former Councilor of Ward No. 15 Abdus
Sobhan Liton.
Aslam Sarkar, vice-president of Rajshahi city BNP, was present as a special
guest at the programme.
Also present at the time were Shah Makhdum Thana BNP Member Secretary Nasim
Khan, Chandima Thana BNP Member Secretary Monirul Islam Jony, and leaders of
local BNP and its affiliated organisations.
